13.1. Weaving: text and idea

Weaving, Marieta StoychevaWeaving, Stefka Nikolova (follow up activities)

TEXT

Day by day, hour by hour, weaving on life’s loom
Thoughts divine, feelings fine coming into bloom;
For the new love and light now prepare we ample room.
Every day think and say that light will come tomorrow;
Love is now on its way to banish fear and sorrow;
So we work and we pray for this new promised day.
(Repeat from “Every”)

Weaving thus we take and give nature’s gifts divine,
Learning daily how to live higher lives sublime;
Weaving thus we all receive the blessings of this time.
Day by day, hour by hour, weaving on life’s loom
Thoughts divine and feelings fine,
For the new life making room,
For the life which turns the night to day
And lights our upward way.

IDEA

We work out, we build something with persistence. Weaving is the only work/labour activity in the lyrics of Paneurhythmy.  We work under some binary conditions: with our mind and heart (by moving left and right), between two poles (by moving between two opposite positions), and in pair with our partner (by moving simultaneously in complementary directions to the inside and to the outside). In the activity of weaving the thread moves sideways left/right, and pushing mechanism – forwards; in the exercise this is performed with stepping sideways steps, followed stepping forwards. Some examples for processes and states in nature, person and relationships:

  • birds weave their nests in pairs;
  • on a loom we weave textile/carpets;
  • we work on/construct a product;
  • we work on our perfection and development;
  • we build good relationships;
  • in nature, the energy flow of electricity and magnetism between two poles is work;
  • when we have an opponent to our idea, we weave our thoughts between our viewpoint and his viewpoint;
  • when we have a subject of our attention, we weave our feelings  between their attitude and our sympathy.

“This exercise expresses the organic process within nature, the process of building. Does not a circulation of electricity and magnetism occur between the North and South Poles of Earth? This is expressed in this exercise through the crossing movements from left to right, and vice versa. Furthermore, polarity exists within every material particle. Between the two poles, electric and magnetic energy flows. These forces work within people as well. Every organ has its polarity. This exercise leads us to perceive, on the one hand, the constructive principle within nature; and on the other hand, it indicates one right way of introducing harmony and rhythm into this process both internally in us, as well as externally in the life of humankind” [Beinsa Douno, Paneurhythmy, p.79]

12.1. Jumping: text and idea

Jumping, Stefanie VanhulleJumping, Marieta Stoycheva

TEXT

Upward rise with all your might.
Be as singing birds in flight,
Heaven pours abundant light
On the souls that reach the height.
Keep the mountain top in sight.

IDEA

In this exercise we bow to a high ideal, to all the greatest in the world, and then jump up to strive high. We admire and respect ideals and also strive up to reach them. That brings joy expressed in the gesture of clapping hands. The person from ex.11 who can think, feel and act well can also jump high to reach beyond his/her reach, to develop full potential. Bowing to face the ground and then jumping up as high as one can are specific movements only for this exercise. Some examples for nature, person and relationships:
  • for the trees the Sun (light) is their ideal, so they strive as high as they can;
  • for the animals best living conditions are their ideal: water, light, food, warmth;
  • for a child his parents are his ideal;
  • at school the favourite teacher is an  ideal for the pupil;
  • in a love relationship the beloved is an ideal;
  • in sport the highest achievments and the best sportsmen are ideals;
  • pop stars and actors are ideals for beauty and specific skills;
  • for a reasonable person love, wisdom, truth are highest ideals.
.Jumping represents the triumph of Love and Wisdom as they have been applied in life. First we all bow before the Great, the Eternal, the Divine Principle that is working in the world. The jump that follows is our offering and expression of joy to the Creator. [Beinsa Douno, Paneurhythmy, p.78]

11.1. Evera: text and idea

Evera, Dancho Pandulchev

TEXT

Dance in the dawn,
Dance on the green and sparkling
Dressed with dew drops lawn;
After a night of rest
again in light be dressed.

Refrain:
Breathe the morning air;
Let the breezes waft away your care;
Rhythmic’ly dance with brooks and flowers fragrant, fair;
Gracefully move, be light and free and gay (glad)
On this inspiring bright spring day.
(Repeat from “Let”)

Dance in the dawn,
Welcome the rising sun
with happiness and song;
Join in the harmony
of nature’s dancing throng.

Refrain: the same

IDEA

This is an exercise about the perfect person, who maintains balance between mind (thoughts, wisdom), heart (feelings, love), and actions (volition, truth). S/he lives in relations with self, the others, and nature. In the body language, in space, we perform this idea in the three possible directions of movement. Love and the relation to others is movement in the direction facing the centre; truth and the relation to self is movement in the direction forward in the circle; wisdom and the relation to nature is movement in direction with one's back to the centre of the circle. The music also creates balance by providing equal duration of time for the movements in each of these three directions (1 measure). Balance is characteristic of movements as well, since there are turning movements and movements on tiptoes and they have an effect on the vestibular apparatus and equilibrium.

“The turning to the left represents the receiving of love; the turning to the right – the receiving of wisdom. The forward movement that follows every movement to the left and right – this is movement towards truth. Thus the application of love and wisdom in our lives leads us up towards truth, i.e. to the sublime reality on which the whole of creation is based. [1, p.78] Evera means “born of the sun” [4, p.58]

6.1. Opening: text & idea

Opening - Plamena SertevaOpening, Silviya Nedelcheva

TEXT

Cast off the clothes of cold wintry days,
Bathe in the freshness of purifying rays,
Take a deep breath, receive the new impulse of life,
Live in the freedom of love, in the joy of light!

Nature is smiling while sun is shining gay (glad),
Filling the hearts with joy on this springtime day!
(Repeat from “Nature”)

IDEA

Opening is a process of turning our thoughts and feelings towards the beautiful and the positive. Some examples of processes and states in nature, in the person (thoughts, feelings, deeds) and relations:

  • a flower opens up for the sunshine; Opening, Marieta Stoycheva
  • we open eyes to perceive the light;
  • we open our minds to think positively;
  • we open our hearts for positive feelings;
  • we open for the good in every person;
  • we notice the beauties around us;
  • boundaries open between countries.

“The movements of the right hand resolve contradictions of the mind, while the movements of the left hand resolve those of the emotions… The movement of the hands from the chest outwards represents opening, while bringing them back to the initial position represents closing. In order to enter into nature, you must open. And once you have entered, you close: that is to say, you must not think about what you have left behind, about the old. The gate of the past must be shut, while that of the future needs to be open. It is the present which does the opening.. The right opening and closing of the door in other words (is) making logical, right and mindful conclusions in the area of thoughts and feelings”. [Beinsa Douno, Paneurhythmy, p.49]

Opening - Ufuk AtillaOpening, Stefanie Vanhulle

TEXT

Higher, ever higher everyone aspire.
Never think to stop until you have reached
The most exalted mountain top.

  • technical achievements improve, sport records become higher;
  • relationships grow and strengthen with time;

“The lifting of the arms is the receiving of the new, the inspiration… while the bringing of the arms down and back signifies that as we receive the new we put the old behind us. This movement of the arms expresses the great power that moves people onwards along the path of life: just as the boat is moved forward by lifting and bringing down the oars”.
